Are bright coloured backpacks more likely to be stolen?

Im backpacking in South East Asia for two months soon, and was wondering if bright coloured backpacks are more of a target for theives? I have found a backpack that fits well and i really like it, but it is only available in bright red. Obviously i wouldnt be leaving my backpack lying around, but i dont want to attract the attention of thieves etc by sticking out too much. Is it really best to have a more subtle colour for my bag?

If you are going to South East Asia then it doesn’t really matter what colour your bag is, it will almost definitely be gone through at the airport if you check it in. If you do have to check your backpack at the airport, try to get this mesh type thing that goes around it to stop it being opened. Don’t leave any valuables in your bag at any time, especially when travelling on public transport.
Bright colours are usually worn in those parts and they get lots of backpackers, so as for sticking out you should be fine.
